I don't want to gloat but...

okay, so I totally want to gloat,

out of the 17 matters that our 4 man (actually 2 guys 2 girls) team said "balls to the wall, run to trial" or "sue to death" on our last trials results report to the big boss/board/how awesome are we clients letter

we won 15 got 50% on another and lost one, and to be fair, we said to the client we would lose that one anyway

If you can stand not ever sleeping ever and constanlty wondering if your are second guessing yourself then litigation rapes transaction work every time.

On Scotland

Scottish people aren't all that friendly are they I once saw an English guy in Glasgow trying to order a pint of lager and lime and the barman went: We don't do cocktails.

(the sooner all you cricket dicks get that thinking into your heads and stop bleating the virtues of Gayade, or Pims as it is marketed these days, the better!)

On Work

Unless you are willing to drench yourself in your work beyond the capacity of the average man, you are just not cut out for positions at the top. ~

I don't know what is going on with the Flu panic

It's Flumageddon right now. To read the papers or listen to the news you get the impression that these are the end times and the plague ridden population of the UK (well, England and Wales at least) are all at death's door and filling the streets with bloated corpses.
It turns out here have been 50 deaths from flu, not great but out of a population of some 60 million not overly significant especially when you consider that it just being winter means 30,000 more recorded deaths than in summer.
Into this mix comes a stomping many many nutters, possibly world class nutters are one the few things Britain continues to produce, I suspect we have a factory somewhere (probably Yorkshire). Said nutters include parents of children who want them to have a flu jab but since they are not in an 'at risk' group, i.e. not asthma or other underlying health condition the NHS won't just hand over a jab. Also, because they want their screaming offspring immunised the local pharamcy can't do it because they don't have pediatric qualification.
Next we have GPs screaming murder that although they apparently ordered plenty flu jabs they have now run out, not their fault of course and as a quick fix the Supermarket pharmacies should pony up their supplies to bail them out.
And finally we have those at the top of the pile of useless, the Department for Health and the Health Minister launching in to a knee jerk spaspanic and frantically scouring Europe for spare flu vaccine before deciding there is none to be found and releasing the spare 12 million swine flu jabs bought last year, which will make people who want it only 30% immunised to this years flu strains.
And after all that it turns out that 200 miles to the north the Scottish Government is sitting on an emergency stockpile which it ordered like it always does to compliment the supplies ordered by Scottish GPs and despite the Department for Health frantically scouring continental Europe for flu supplies they have had no request for access to spare supplies.
Of course the whole non problem could be solved by just letting the pharmacy immunise anyone who wants it, but then people might think why the blithery fcuk am I paying for Doctors and a Department of Health when all this can be done by paying £10 to a guy in a shop.

On Theodore Roosevelt

Death had to take him in his sleep, for if he was awake there'd have been a fight.

The Lawyer posts it's top 20 cases for 2011

It appears a number of GCs have come to their senses and realised that litigation in the UK courts is not a great deal more expensive than big arbitration and thus it looks like harvest time for the shouty people.

Granted, were you in the US with the horror of a possible runaway jury and the chewbacca defence you'd probably still arbitrate.
